Editing Styles

Film editing is part of the creative post-production process of filmmaking. It involves putting shots together to create a storyline. There tends to be at least 3 cuts; the Editor's Cut, the Director's Cut and then the Final Cut.

A major problem with editing is continuity. When the series of shots isn't physically continuous, this is when there is a continuity error. This could be due to a slight change between camera angles. For example, if in one shot the milkshake glass is full and in the next the glass is missing some milkshake, even though no character has drunk any.

I found this really useful video on vimeo, made by a couple of guys simply telling viewers what not to do when making a film.

If I follow these pointers, it will make my short film look much more professional.
