Framing the Shot & Camera Angles

This is a video that I found on Vimeo which gives the basic instructions and general rules for framing a shot and camera angles. It is a really informative video that makes understanding each shot and angle in more depth.

To most, the type of angle or shot is used to make things more noticable or make them look better, but there is so much more to shots and angles than that. As stated in the video, high angle shots create a vulnerability of the character, whereas low angle shots create a looming effect and make things seem larger than they actually are.
It's things like this that need to be taken into consideration when creating a short film.

Vanilla Sky - Times Square Scene from Paul Gruber on Vimeo.

This video is a scene from "Vanilla Sky". It uses low-angle shots to show how tall the buildings are compared to Tom Cruises's character.
